Technology Provided By Jewell Gardens

Our homes specialize in a shared Local Area Network (LAN) anchored by our "Telelibrary" file server.  It is powerful enough to offer each homeowner both their own web site and a separate IP address from which to contact the world for electronic marketing. All units can be wired with the latest in information technology capabilities. optional home wiring All units have access for hook-up to a computer network which offers Home Office user with high Speed Connectivity to the outside world. In order to share it, each user must subscribe to a monthly fee of $15 to pay for it. Here are the services available. (See declaration)

INTERNET  WEB SERVER- The computer network will coordinate shared access to each unit for high speed internet connectivity at 1.4 mega bits per second, or T-1 speed.  This will allow users to access and distribute large animation files, video conferencing systems and sound recordings in real time. This includes document collaboration via net meeting sessions.  For those who need training, an hour each Saturday will be available for questions and answers and demonstrations during the marketing period of this project.  This service is an "always-on" system that precludes the need for dial up and log-on.

  • 101 million adults in the U.S. - roughly one-half of the U.S. adult population - had used the Net by mid -'99, up from 65 million in mid - '98 and 84 million at the end of '98 (The Strategis Group)

  • Daily use has risen to 60% fro home users and 69% for work users (Strategis)

  • 32.2 billion Internet pages were viewed in the U.S. in October, an average of over 1B a day.  That's a 49% increase from October of '98 (Media Matrix)

FILE SERVER - Shared Connectivity to a private on-site computer for networked on-line services, shared file storage to outside world, networked training tutorials, individual e-mail and mailboxes. This will also provide for a web server for those who want to maintain a web site.  The web server will be kept up to date with the latest internet browsing and development software.  We will provide specific hosting services including domain name registration and initial web site set up for additional fees.  Supplementary web site consulting and development is available.

APPLICATIONS SERVER - As an Application Service Provider (ASP) Jewell Gardens offers access to software applications, infrastructure, and related services over the Internet and local area network (LAN). Key to the ASP concept is that applications are not installed at the end user location, but are instead remotely installed and managed on infrastructure provided by the ASP.

The excitement about ASPs is easy to understand.   End-users save money and cut deployment time by shifting the burden of installing, maintaining, and managing applications and infrastructure to the ASP. This can be a significant advantage particularly for client-server and database applications that require server and networking resources.

OUR TARGET MARKET - We are designing these town homes for the working at-home professional who uses the internet to make a living.  Here's why this is a huge untapped market.   The last few years have seen an explosion in the number of home based businesses and people working out of their homes.  ATT has announced 45 million people are working from their own home with some as "telecommuters" for big corporations and some running part-time businesses and 5 million  full-time businesses, professionals and consultants.  There are roughly 180 million people on earth worldwide.  The number of web sites grew from 1 million to more than 5 million in the last 2 years.   In the next four years 2/3 of all U.S. homes will have internet access.  Users spend forty percent more time on the internet than 1 year ago.
